The case of the vanishing juggernaut
After my six-day race in France, I find myself standing at a cross roads, with many questions, and few answers
I couldn’t quite bring myself to spell it out in my write-up reports of the six-day race, but the painful reality is that I didn’t run far enough in the 6 Jours de France to earn a place in the Self-Transcendence 3100 in New York this year. So I won’t be running.
In some ways it’s a relief. That was one mind-boggling juggernaut hovering out there on the horizon, drawing closer with ominous speed. And just like that, it’s gone. Poof!
Phew.
But it leaves me facing a wide open space, with all my roads, my paths ahead, suddenly erased. My podcast, my book, my film project, the crowd-funder I had primed, my training, my race schedule, my family’s plans. What happens to all that suddenly?
