Running, records (and lies) on the Salt Path
It was an honour to join Dan Lawson on day two of his attempt to break the record for the fastest known time on England's south-west coast path
As we popped down onto the beach at Babbacombe, there he was, perfect timing, ambling towards us with his running backpack and a weary smile: Dan Lawson.
I got so excited I started talking to a couple sitting in deck chairs next to a white camper van (I thought it was Dan’s crew for some reason): “Amazing! He’s doing amazing! And what perfect timing.”
They looked at me confused as I ran off to meet him. He seemed a little teary and said he’d just been through a bad patch, but for the next 12 miles as we ran together, along with Charlie, a local runner (and Monday Musings reader), Dan was chirpy, running smoothly even if he did say quite a few times how tired he was.
