Adding a race to the fire
I've been struggling to get out running recently. There was only one solution: sign up to a crazy ultra
Sometimes you just have to add another race to the fire to get things going again.
My ongoing feeling of lethargy since my six-day race has been lurking behind the cracks in these Monday Musings for weeks, as I’m sure you will have noticed. It has been even more evident on my Strava page for anyone who looks there - I’m currently averaging a mere eight miles a week over the last four weeks.
Somehow, running less has led to me picking up an injury, and an achilles injury at that. This was my big problem years ago when I got sold on barefoot running, but my body wasn’t geared up to handle it, and I struggled on for years with a painful achilles. Then I fixed it with the miracle of Anatomy in Motion (AiM). Yet now, weeks of barely any running, followed by a fast 5K (see last week’s Musings) has left me hobbling around, promising myself that I’ll start doing my AiM moves again, but finding myself unable even to manage that.
