Back in Durham, 30 years after it all fell apart

In 1994 I raced the British Universities Cross Country Championships in Durham and came nearly last. I was back this weekend in very different circumstances

If Disney were to make a film set in a university in England, I’m sure it would look just like Durham. On a hill surrounded by a river sits a small town of higgledy-piggledy streets, with a castle and an ancient cathedral at the top. In fact, it’s where lots of the scenes from the Harry Potter movies were filmed. And it was in Durham that we dropped off…
